The College of Arts at Baghdad University and the Iraqi Dialogue Institute held the first day of the international conference entitled “Artificial Intelligence and Transformation Potential in the Humanities” at the main hall of the University of Baghdad. The event was attended by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi; the Advisor to the Prime Minister for Artificial Intelligence, Professor Dr. Dia Al-Jamili; the Deputy Minister of Higher Education for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Haidar Abd Dahid; the President of Baghdad University, Professor Dr. Bahaa Ibrahim Insaf; and a large number of officials and researchers from over twenty countries worldwide<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In his speech, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research called for utilizing scientific platforms and seizing opportunities to build bridges of cooperation and communication among different disciplines, educational knowledge, and academic and research capabilities to create promising horizons for exploiting the potentials of artificial intelligence and promoting it as a culture among scholars, innovators, educators, and researchers<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

He emphasizes that the outcomes of this conference will contribute to the development and stimulation of the field of humanities and provide momentum for the exchange of innovative visions and patterns through creative brainstorming and deep thinking aimed at establishing a scientific framework linked to effective ways to achieve the necessary transformation in the humanities based on the capabilities and applications of artificial intelligence<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Professor Dr. Bahaa Ibrahim stated: “At the University of Baghdad, we are dedicated to integrating human-centered artificial intelligence into our research and educational activities. “Our objective is to comprehend the implications of accelerated technological advancement and its humanitarian applications, which are creating increased opportunities for innovation and growth across various disciplines. At the same time, we are striving to enhance the quality, capabilities, and efficiency of our academic work, aiming to become a scientific model that is on a par with leading universities worldwide in terms of study and application<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Dean of the College of Arts stated that this conference provides a valuable opportunity for intellectual and knowledge-based communication and academic dialogue. The objective is to establish a secure and effective utilization of these applications and initiate digital transformation while promoting an awareness based on community values and ethics, enhancing sound usage principles while considering social and cultural changes. Over the next two days, we will undertake a comprehensive review of research utilizing artificial intelligence applications in a range of disciplines, including archaeology, psychology, linguistics, geography, sociology, and philosophy. The review will feature fifty-six papers across eighteen themes, with contributions from researchers in twenty countries<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Subsequent to the formal addresses, a panel discussion was held with the advisor to the Prime Minister for Artificial Intelligence, the Deputy Minister of Higher Education for Scientific Research, and Professor Dr. Youssef Khalaf Youssef, President of Al-Shaab University.
