Professor Baha Ibrahim Ensaf, Ph.D., President of the University of Baghdad, commenced his academic tour in Japan by holding a comprehensive meeting with the President of Chiba University, Professor Kotaro Yokota, in the presence of several university professors and Japanese academics. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Biwan Zwati, Chargé d’Affaires at the Iraqi Embassy in Tokyo, and Professor Ali Abdulameer Sajit, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Arts at the University of Baghdad.
Professor Yokota opened the meeting by welcoming the President of the University of Baghdad and the accompanying delegation. He praised Chiba University’s commitment to enhancing academic relations with the University of Baghdad, in line with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two institutions in February 2017.
In his address, Professor Baha Ibrahim Ensaf, Ph.D. emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between the two universities through various programs offered by the University of Baghdad, particularly the Study in Iraq initiative. He highlighted the university’s readiness to host Japanese students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as its eagerness to activate joint projects in teaching, supervision, research fellowships, and collaboration between Iraqi and Japanese researchers.
Professor Yokota commended the University of Baghdad as a leading institution in the Arab and regional contexts and expressed Chiba University’s keen interest in maintaining the fruitful partnership between the two universities. Both sides highlighted the significance of two decades of cooperation between the University of Baghdad and Japanese universities and celebrated the eight years of partnership with Chiba University as a testament to the depth of academic relations between the two institutions.
