As part of his academic tour aimed at enhancing international cooperation, Professor Baha Ibrahim Ensaf, Ph.D., President of the University of Baghdad, and Professor Ali Abdulameer Sajit, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Arts, visited Keio University, one of the world’s leading universities ranked among the top tier in global academic classifications.

The President of the University of Baghdad was received by Professor Kohei Itoh, President of Keio University, and Professor Motohiro Tsuchiya, Vice President for International Cooperation and Information Technology.

The meeting featured intensive discussions on ways to strengthen the academic partnership between the two universities. The parties agreed to prepare for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at expanding cooperation in academic research, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence, engineering, medical sciences, and advanced studies. Additionally, they explored support for the establishment of a department for Japanese language and literature studies at the University of Baghdad, as well as advancing studies in the humanities and social sciences.

Professor Itoh and Professor Tsuchiya commended University of Baghdad’s advanced infrastructure and academic capabilities, expressing Keio University’s interest in establishing an advanced academic partnership grounded in joint scientific research and international collaboration programs.

This visit marks a significant milestone in the University of Baghdad’s efforts to strengthen its presence on the global academic stage and open new horizons for collaboration with leading international academic institutions.
