Dr. Junichi Yamada discusses Japanese cooperation in developing infrastructure in Iraq in the presence of the Prime Minister’s Advisor for Youth Affairs, Dr. Qasim Al-Zalimi, and representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University of Baghdad.
Professor Junichi Yamada, Senior Executive Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), delivered a lecture titled ‘Japanese Cooperation in Developing Iraq’s Infrastructure’ on Wednesday, the tenth of May of this year. The lecture covered Japan’s efforts in developing Iraq’s infrastructure since the 1970s. This lecture is sponsored by Professor Dr. Alawi Sader Jazaa, the Dean of the College, to discuss with the Japanese delegation the possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding for the establishment of a ‘JICA Chair’ related to supporting the academic research and aspects at the University of Baghdad. This is part of the collaboration between the College of Arts and the University of Baghdad with Japanese academic institutions for nearly twenty years.
