Under the auspices of the Dean of the College of Arts, Prof. Dr. Ali Abdul-Amir Sajet, Dr. Kamal Al Khilani delivered a scientific lecture entitled ‘Psychological Stress and its Effects on Mental and Physical Health’ to officers and staff of the Federal Police
Dr. Al Khilani defined the main types of psychological stress and explained how they affect health and are associated with various diseases, describing these conditions as having a “psychosomatic appearance”. Al-Khilani provided definitions of the most significant psychological stresses, discussing their impact on health and association with various diseases. He described these diseases as having a ‘psychological origin with physical manifestations’. He highlighted well-known examples such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease, and explained the connection between psychological factors and physical health from both theoretical and scientific perspectives
Professor Al-Khilani then provided practical training on how to deal with various psychological pressures in order to mitigate their effects. He emphasised the importance of promoting psychological awareness, particularly among members of the security services who are exposed to demanding working environments and exceptional conditions
At the conclusion of the lecture, Commander of the Federal Police Saleh Al-Omari expressed his appreciation for Dr. Kamal’s contributions and emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration with the College of Arts at the University of Baghdad
