Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Arts – University of Baghdad, Prof. Ali Abdul Ameer Sajit, Ph.D., the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Arts, in cooperation with the Student Activities Division, organized on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, a tree-planting campaign that covered several of the College’s gardens. The initiative comes in alignment with the orientations of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security, and in conjunction with the celebrations of the Iraqi National Day.

The campaign aimed to enhance the role of women in supporting sustainable development efforts, particularly those related to confronting climate change and mitigating its effects on society in general, and on women in particular. This aligns with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Women’s Affairs Department in encouraging activities that contribute to improving the work environment and expanding green spaces within academic institutions.

The campaign witnessed the planting of more than ninety-five saplings of various plant species, with the participation of faculty members, students, and staff of the College, in an atmosphere that reflected a spirit of cooperation and collective work.

This campaign constitutes part of a series of activities related to the Protection and Relief Pillar launched by the Third National Action Plan for Women, in support of women’s participation in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 13 on climate action, and Goal 5 on gender equality—affirming the active role of women in building a more conscious and sustainable society.
