The Dean of the College of Arts, Prof. Ali Abdul Ameer Sajit, Ph.D., visited the Iraqi Embassy in Berlin as part of the ongoing efforts to complete the requirements of cooperation between the University of Baghdad and the German Archaeological Institute, in preparation for the opening of the Iraqi–German Institute for Archaeology and Assyriology.
His Excellency the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim, Mr. Ali Mohammed Ali Kalali, and the staff of the Iraqi Embassy received the delegation of the University of Baghdad, in the presence of Professor Margarete van Ess, Head of the Orient Department at the German Archaeological Institute, Prof. Laith Majid Hussein, Ph.D., Director of the Institute for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage, and Prof. Mahmoud Al-Qaisi, Ph.D., a faculty member at the College of Arts.
The two sides discussed the advanced stages reached in the establishment of the center, in addition to the growing history of academic relations between Iraq and Germany. His Excellency the Chargé d’Affaires expressed his satisfaction with this development, confirming the Embassy’s readiness to support these academic initiatives.
For his part, the Dean of the College of Arts thanked the Iraqi Embassy in Berlin for its continuous interest in academic affairs, while Dr. van Ess affirmed the support of the German Archaeological Institute for cooperation with the University of Baghdad, considering it a bridge for scientific exchange between Iraq and Germany.
