As part of his academic tour in Japan, Prof. Baha Ibrahim Insaf, Ph.D., President of the University of Baghdad, visited Chiba University, accompanied by Prof. Ali Abdulameer Sajit, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Arts at the University of Baghdad, who played a prominent role in leading efforts to enhance academic partnership between the two institutions.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed prospects for strengthening academic cooperation between their universities, with a focus on areas such as joint teaching and supervision, organizing scientific conferences, and facilitating reciprocal research visits for faculty members.
The meeting also addressed the establishment of the “Iraq Chair” at Chiba University, which will be launched upon the completion of official approvals by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Both parties also explored means of supporting the Japanese Language Department project at the University of Baghdad, whose first initiatives were launched in 2025. Chiba University affirmed its readiness to provide academic support for this important project.
For his part, the President of the University of Baghdad emphasized the university’s desire to expand avenues of cultural and scientific exchange, expressing the institution’s welcome to Japanese students wishing to pursue their studies in Iraq through the “Study in Iraq” program, supported by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
This cooperation aligns with the objectives of sustainable development, particularly Goal 4 related to Quality Education, and Goal 17 concerning Partnerships for the Goals.
