Prof. Ali Abdulameer Sajit, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Arts at the University of Baghdad, attended the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Baghdad and Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. The ceremony took place during the official academic visit conducted by the Iraqi delegation to Japan, headed by Prof. Baha Ibrahim Insaf, Ph.D., President of the University of Baghdad.

The memorandum encompasses cooperation in the fields of Japanese studies, the Arabic language, peace studies, Middle Eastern issues, translation, and the social and human sciences, thereby opening broad prospects for academic and research exchange between the two institutions.

Prof. Nobuo Haruna, the representative of the Japanese university, welcomed the delegation from the University of Baghdad, affirming the importance of this partnership with a distinguished academic institution that enjoys a strong and reputable scientific standing.

The agreement provides opportunities for implementing joint research projects, exchanging academic visits, hosting researchers, and supporting postgraduate programs in ways that contribute to enhancing students’ academic and research capacities.

The participation of the Dean of the College of Arts reflects the college’s commitment to strengthening its international presence and establishing effective academic partnerships—efforts that support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through international cooperation and the expansion of knowledge-exchange opportunities.
