The Dean of the College of Arts, Prof. Dr. Ali Abdul-Amir Sajet, extended a warm welcome to Mr. Hiroshi Suzuki, Senior Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)
The Dean engaged in discussions with the Japanese guest regarding prospective collaborations between the College of Arts and JICA, particularly in light of the ‘JICA Chair’, which was incorporated into the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the University of Baghdad and JICA in December 2023. Mr. Suzuki expressed his support for the proposals put forth by the Dean concerning JICA’s potential role in future partnerships. These include providing training for faculty members and postgraduate students, as well as organising joint lectures, both in-person and online
The collaboration also encompasses joint supervision, along with the organisation of conferences and workshops. Mr. Suzuki expressed his admiration for the College’s plans to enhance its educational programmes, particularly in the field of Japanese language studies
The visit of Mr. Suzuki serves to exemplify the College of Arts’ dedication to cultivating international partnerships that will enrich its academic curriculum and facilitate educational advancement. The collaboration with JICA promises valuable opportunities for faculty development, student engagement, and the enhancement of language and cultural studies within the College
