The session was moderated by Assistant Professor Dr. Haitham Kamel Al-Zubaidi, from the English Department at the College of Arts, University of Baghdad, and President of the Translation Club at the Union of Iraqi Writers

The objective of this activity was to facilitate a discussion on the challenges inherent in the process of translating literary works from one language to another, with a particular focus on Arabic. A number of distinguished Iraqi translators and scholars attended the session, which was convened with the goal of developing a strategy for promoting book translation with the support of the Federation. The aim is to translate ten books per year, overseen by a specialised committee

Key figures in the field, including Mr. Ali Al-Fawaz, President of the Union, Professor Omar Al-Sarai, Secretary-General of the Union, and Chief Translator Prof. Dr. Abdulwahid Mohamed Maslat, attended the session along with other distinguished translators and scholars

In conclusion, the session highlighted the challenges of literary translation and emphasised the need for effective strategies to increase book translations in Iraq
